Lawrence R. Shipp - Chairman

Lawrence Shipp has been in the financial services for the last 26 years. He is recently retired from TIAA-CREF, known as one of the largest private pension systems. He has extensive experience in retirement plan design, legal compliance and project management. His career has moved him from Boston, MA, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, CA, and San Francisco, CA. Mr. Shipp has also worked as a Motivational Speaker for the Peace Corporation / National Football League Players Association and served on the Youth for Service in San Francisco. Since moving to Florida in 2000, Mr. Shipp has had the honor to serve as Director for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and most recently, a committee member of the University of South Florida Africa American Advisory Council.

Mr. Shipp is also known in the Athletic world and competed throughout the world as a member of numerous United States track & field teams while in College and was National Champion twice. Mr. Shipp attended St. Albans School for Boys in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. degree.

Mr. Shipp resides in Tampa with his wife Gail, and they have one grown daughter.

Brian Dolan – Vice Chairman

A veteran of the steamship industry, Brian Dolan worked for Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. and NSCSA for 17 years in both management and executive positions. During that time, Mr. Dolan acquired extremely broad and comprehensive experience developing national and international marketing, advertising and sales plans; negotiating service contracts with shippers, railroads, container and chassis providers, container yards and terminals; and directing the insurance and claims department for one of the largest American flag fleets.

Mr. Dolan currently is employed with Thorn / Lawrence, P.L., Tampa. He assists the firm with business development and strategic planning. Mr. Dolan is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is also a licensed securities professional (Series 7 and 66) and is a licensed life, health and annuity agent.

Mr. Dolan has strong ties with the Tampa community, serving as President of The Tampa Club, President of the Tulane Alumni Association of Tampa and St. Petersburg. He is a member of the Propeller Club and the Exchange Club and was Co-Chairman of the 2003 American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball.

Brian graduated from the Tulane University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate (JD) and a Masters of Maritime Law (LL.M.). He is an alumnus of the American University School of Government, graduating with a BS degree in Political Science. In 1977, Mr. Dolan was appointed as an administrative law judge and hearing officer by the Governor of New Jersey.

Brian is married to Martha Dolan and they reside in Lithia, Florida.

Carl Lindell - Secretary / Treasurer

Carl Lindell, Jr. is the owner and Chairman of Lindell Investments and Lindell Investments, II. Until late 2004 he was the owner and President of Lindell Motors, Inc. d/b/a Lindell Honda-Volkswagen, a full service automobile dealership in Tampa, Florida. He was also the majority owner of Lindell Mazda in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Mr. Lindell had spent over 30 successful years in the automobile business. During this time he has won numerous Volkswagen and Honda awards. In 1985 he received the prestigious AIADA-Sports Illustrated Dealer of Distinction Award.

Mr. Lindell has invested in commercial and residential real estate for over 20 years. His acquisitions have included various office buildings, mobile home parks, and residential lots. In 1997, Lindell Investments was formed for various real estate development projects including Keystone Shores and Whispering Oaks. Lindell Investments, II was later formed for the development of Wilderness Lake Preserve. Subsequently, several entities have been established for joint ventures, builder partnerships and future residential projects.

Mr. Lindell attended and received his B.A. degree from The University of North Carolina and his M.B.A. degree from the Emory University.

Mayor Pam Iorio - Commissioner

Pam Iorio is the Mayor of Tampa, sworn into office on April 1, 2003, for a four-year term and re-elected in 2007. As Mayor, Pam Iorio serves on the Aviation Authority, the Port Authority, Tampa Bay Water, and the Board of Trustees of the University of Tampa.

Iorio began her political career at age 26, when she became the youngest person ever elected to the Hillsborough County Commission (1985-1992). A year later her fellow commissioners elected her chairman. After serving two terms on the County Commission, Iorio was elected three times to the office of Supervisor of Elections for Hillsborough County (1993-2003). In 2000, she was elected President of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, becoming the spokesperson for the supervisors during the 2000 presidential election.

Mayor Iorio ushered in the electronic age of voting, managing Hillsborough County’s highly successful transition from punch card to touch-screen voting technology in 2002. Also in 2002, for her work in the area of election reform, she was presented the Leadership Florida Distinguished Alumnus Award, which recognizes statewide leadership in bettering the lives of Floridians.

Iorio attended Hillsborough County public schools and graduated from American University in Washington D.C. with a BS Degree in Political Science. Iorio also earned a Master’s Degree in History from the University of South Florida in Tampa in 2001. She has published several articles on Tampa’s civil rights and political history.

Iorio is married to Mark Woodard. They have two children, Caitlin and Graham.

Stephen W. Swindal - Commissioner

Stephen W. Swindal began his maritime experience working for the former American Ship Building Co.; a company specializing in shipbuilding, major conversion and repair work and barge construction. He also operated bulk freighters transporting grain on the Great Lakes. Mr. Swindal is the former CEO of Bay Transportation, a tugboat operator with operations on both U.S. coasts, the Caribbean, Brazil and Mexico. He is currently Chairman of Marine Towing of Tampa, LLC and its various affiliates. Marine Towing of Tampa, LLC does ship assist work in the Ports of Tampa and Manatee.

Mr. Swindal is co-owner and operator of Swindal International, LLC; a wholesale furniture importer and distributor.

Mr. Swindal provided services to New York Yankees Partnership and its affiliates in various capacities for over ten years. He last served as a Senior Executive Officer with the New York Yankees Partnership and was Chairman of the Board of Yankee Global Enterprises, LLC (the owner of the New York Yankees Baseball Club and the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network) He was also a general partner of the New York Yankees Partnership. He has served on the team boards of both the New York Yankees and the New Jersey Nets (NBA).

Mr. Swindal served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council from 1986 - 1993 He is currently a Board Member of the Salvation Army – Tampa Chapter, and a member of the Propeller Club of Tampa.

Mr. Swindal is a lifetime resident of Tampa, a graduate of the Berkeley Preparatory School, and is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, graduating with a B.A. degree in History. He has two children, Haley and Stephen Jr.

William A. "Hoe" Brown - Commissioner

William A. “Hoe” Brown is a third generation Floridian. He was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and graduated from Edgewater High School. He graduated from Florida State University with a BS degree.

Mr. Brown is President and owner of J.B. Carrie Properties, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors of the non-profit assisted living facility, Oaks of Clearwater. He is also a board member for Trinity Café, a non-profit organization that feeds the homeless. He is a member of the FSU Alumnae Association and the Tampa Yacht and Country Club.Mr. Brown is a sports enthusiast who believes strongly in supporting local athletics. He currently serves as Chairman of the USF Iron Bulls and is a board member of the USF Bull’s Club. Hoe and his wife, Chris, live in south Tampa.

Rose V. Ferlita - Commissioner

Rose V. Ferlita has a rich family history in Tampa. She was born and raised in Ybor City and grew up working in her family’s Ferlita Bakery, now the site of the Ybor State Museum. She attended high school at the Academy of Holy Names and attended Loyola University in New Orleans for undergraduate studies. She completed her graduate courses at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, in Gainesville.

Ferlita’s business experience is well balanced. She served 18 years in the corporate world with Eckerd Corporation and CVS/ProCare. In 1984, she founded Rose Drugs, Inc. where she served the pharmacy needs of the Seminole Heights community and others for more than 22 years.

Ferlita served as the District 2, Citywide Tampa City Councilmember from March 2, 1999 until November 1, 2006. During her two terms, she represented the City as the Chairman of the Community Redevelopment Agency, the Vice-Chairman of the Public Transportation Commission, the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee and the Vice-Chairman of the Public Works Committee. In November, 2006, Ferlita was elected as the District 1, Hillsborough County Commissioner, where she serves the citizens of the “coastal communities” in Hillsborough County, Florida. In March, 2007, Rose Drugs was acquisitioned by CVS Pharmacy. This move was taken, in order for Ferlita to be able to dedicate her full time attention to the constituents of Hillsborough County.
