Port of Tampa Welcomes Atlantic Ro-Ro Carriers Service to Russia
TAMPA—The Tampa Port Authority (TPA) is pleased to announce the first vessel call of Atlantic Ro-Ro Carriers’ m/v Baltic Mercur, a multi-purpose cargo ship that signified the launch of a new general cargo service between the Port of Tampa and Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The service is slated to operate on a monthly frequency, using a fleet of highly versatile ships that are capable of carrying a variety of general cargoes such as steel, containers, roll-on/roll-off traffic, project cargoes and bulk commodities. With terminal operations provided by Ports America, cargoes loaded upon the initial call were containers, heavy equipment work vehicles and freight trucks.
“We are pleased to partner with Atlantic Ro-Ro Carriers in opening up a new, direct service option for trade with Russia that will be of great benefit to exporters and importers in Florida and the Southeastern U.S.,” Richard Wainio, port director and chief executive, said.
